Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
